Our first attempts at blogging

Yestaerday Mr O Brien taught us how to blog. We were very excited when we saw our blogging site and waited patiently for our first comments. We were extremely pleased to find 4 comments waiting for us this morning - one from Luwis in our class! Today in ICT we are going to become better bloggers and have a go ourselves at reading and commenting on other blogsites from our school. We’ll let you know later how we got on!

Congratulations Year 4 ! It is great to see and read your class blog. We hope that we will learn loads about all the exciting work you are doing in your year group.

My biggest tip for better blogging would be to always carefully check your writing when you POST and when you COMMENT. Re-read it through before you hit that “Publish” button .

    Best wishes

    Mr Barrett

Well done Year 4, (and Mr O’Brien) for starting up this blog. I teach in Geelong in Victoria, Australia, (you might like to look up Geelong in an atlas or even better on Google Earth). Last year I had a grade 3-4 and we had a lot of fun with our class blog called Middle P Prattlings. Prattlings is still on the internet even though all of my class have moved on. You might like to have a look at what they did at http://mrpbps.learnerblogs.org/. Good luck I shall keep looking back here very now and then and I shall tell my new grade 5-6 to have a look to so let’s get things happening.

    Cheers
    Mr P

[…] Two boys from Year 4 just about burst into my classroom this afternoon proclaiming that they had been left a comment from a teacher in Australia! They were the very picture of excitement and I was too, we loaded up their class blog and read the comment. I said that they needed to go and find where Geelong was on an map, they replied, in a very matter of fact way… […]

I am the principal at a middle school in Trussville, Alabama, USA. I have recently started blogging and have a blog on our school website. Students and I have conversations over our blog. I think it great that you all are venturing into the world of blogging too. There is so much out there to learn!

    Hello class,

today I was link hopping, and found a message somewhere about your class blog. I’m a teacher in Denmark working online with blogs and wikis for teachers.

Last yeat I was doing a workshop on blogging for English language teachers - and 60 of them put their location and picture on our Frappr map http://www.frappr.com/blog06/photo/2706853 - they are from all over the world!

I will soon be teaching a year 3/4 class in a place called Maryport which is in Cumbria. (can you see it on a map?)
I hope to create their first class blog and if all goes well, will get them to comment on your own blog.

    Hello there.
Congrats on your class blog! I teach English for Speakers of Other Languages to adults in the U.S. I am doing research on blogging and want to incorporate it into my own classes. I am going to try to do it ASAP. Maybe our classes can write to each other!
